Reviews of the Philly Gayborhood and LGBTQ History Tour
Fabulous Perspective on the City
I traveled to Philly on my own and was looking for ways to learn more about the city. The tour Joey took me on was fabulous - I learned so much about the pioneering LGBTQ history of the city, including some facts that impressed a friend of mine that knows the city much better than me. Joey is incredibly knowledgeable and super friendly. I recommend this tour.
Awesome Experience
Joey was an excellent guide. He was very personable and extremely knowledgable! Living in the suburbs, I've visited Philly and the Gayborhood many times, but I was surprised to learn just how significant Philadelphia was in LGBT history. It was a hot day, and Joey was very considerate of my comfort on the tour- staying in the shade when possible, stopping for water/bathroom breaks. I would highly recommend this tour! I'm looking forward to taking another tour with Beyond the Bell- especially the Badass Women of Philadelphia!
Superb
Highest recommendation. Two hours of terrific history, presented by a personable, thoughtful, and energetic guide.
I went on the superb Philly Gayborhood and LGBTQ History Walking Tour today.
Our tour guide, Joey, was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and considerate. I learned a great deal about the triumphs and obstacles that have affected the LGBTQ+ community historically, as well as present-day concerns. As an African American woman, I especially appreciated the information Joey imparted regarding notable people of color who have impacted the Philadelphia LGBTQ+ community. Kudos to Beyond the Bell Tours!
This tour was exceptionally well done!
Our tour guide was informative, presented the information in a way that was very accessible and relevant, and helped our group understand the historic and cultural context of the people and places she was telling us about. Her Pride in Queer Philadelphia was evident! Our entire group was very pleased with the event. Even people who had been longtime activists in Philly said they learned new information. Go on this tour!
